We Are

Why is SWE important?
|
Women make up only 13% of the engineering workforce and 26% of the computer science workforce. This number is growing with help from organizations like SWE that focus on the inclusion and achievement of women engineers and students. Support for women in the engineering and technology fields is vital to the enrichment of young female students aspiring to achieve career goals that earlier generations of females could only dream of having.
The Olivet section of the Society of Women Engineers was started in 2013 by a small group of ambitious female students in the Olivet engineering department. What started with just a few members has grown to be a successful organization that provides engineering and computer science students with opportunities to be involved in professional development through conferences and company partnerships, community outreach with local schools, and campus events to create a culture of inclusion and empowerment. |
